UHD Enhances Student, Employee Safety with App
As part of a relentless effort to provide the most safe and secure environment possible, UHD has partnered with the SafeZone app to ensure every member of the campus community has quick and efficient access to emergency services, right on their smartphone or wearable device.
The app is free to all UHD students and employees, and it operates across the entirety of both the Downtown and Northwest campuses. To download, simply go to the app store on your phone, then search for SafeZone by CriticalArc. Users must sign up with their UHD email address to access all of the SafeZone app features.
Once installed, you can:
- Report safety concerns 24/7
- Get notified if risks are present in your area
- Get connected quickly with mental health professionals if you are feeling depressed, anxious, or overwhelmed
- Activate location sharing with authorities if alone and concerned for safety
- Anonymously report incidents via text message, photograph, and location
- Control your profile data and what is shared; location is only shared when you raise alerts, check in, send reports, or request assistance
"The implementation of the SafeZone app will empower the UHD community to be active participants in their own safety and mental health," said UHDPD Chief Davis. "The access to mental health resources and fast, anonymous reporting will ensure a quicker response in the event of an emergency. This app is a continuation of our robust, ongoing efforts to be innovators in campus safety and security."
