About the Organization
Assistance League of Houston, a chapter of National Assistance League, is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization committed to serving children and adults in need in our communities through innovative philanthropic programs. The Houston chapter has been serving the Houston community since 1966, with more than 158 hands-on, dedicated volunteer members. These volunteers lovingly gave over 25,200 hours in 2015-2016 to fund our 5 philanthropic programs dedicated to:

  • Clothing students in need (Operation School Bell®)
  • Funding students to continue their education (Scholarship Program)
  • Providing literary enrichment to Pre-K children (Head Start Readers)
  • Providing holiday cheer to patients and their families at Texas Children’s Hospital (Celebration of Giving)
  • Supporting local art (Support for the Arts)

Internship Description
The Assistants League of Houston is looking for a reliable and hard working Grant Writer to intern during the Fall 2017 semester.

The Grant Writer Duties:

  1. Search available grants that match the objectives of the Assistants League.
  2. Determine if the Assistants League is eligible for grants that meet our objectives.
  3. Create Cover Letters
  4. Create Project Narratives
  5. Create Project Budgets
  6. Create Letters of Endorsement
  7. Carefully write proposals that will convince funders that the Assistants League is profoundly worthy of their trust and support.
  8. Build relationships with prospective donors and answer any questions they may have.
