PLC Technician II Certificate Program
The PLC Technician II Certificate program covers more advanced PLC subject matter.
This program features a comprehensive study of tag-based PLCs featuring Rockwell RSLogix
5000 programming applications. In addition to ladder logic-based PLCs, this program
also covers Distributed Control Systems, (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
Systems
(SCADA) and advanced programming languages techniques.
PLCLogix 5000 is designed to emulate the Rockwell (Allen Bradley) 5000 series of PLCs. This simulation software includes approximately 250 pre-built lab projects; including 50 lab projects presented in 10 “real world” 3D PLC application environments. PLCLogix 5000 allows you to create ladder logic programs, see a program’s operation using a simulator and control the operation of the program from within this interactive environment. It replaces the PLC ladder rung editor and all the electrical components that have, until now, been required to learn PLC programming and operation.
The PLC Logix 5000 simulator incorporates a “Tag” based addressing system employed by 5000 series Control
Logix controllers. The Tag Editor and Tag Monitor interfaces allow for program variables,
instruction elements as well as physical I/O to be not only edited and monitored as
required by real world applications but also to be grouped and organized as desired,
using tags and aliases. The integration of the ladder logic programs with the 3DWorlds
provides a unique opportunity for programming in real-time and observing the operation
of complex control devices and systems. PLCLogix 5000 features.
10 “real world” 3D PLC application environments that graphically simulate process
control operations in the following applications: Batch Mixing, Bottling Line, Dual-Compressor,
Elevator, Moving Car Wash, Silo, Single-Compressor, Stationary Car Wash, Traffic Lights
and Warehouse Door.
One of the main features of the PLC II program is the complete integration of lab experiments within the presentation of theory. The web based curriuclum presents nineteen modules of interactive curriculum using text, video, 2D and 3D animations, photos, audio clips and interactive PLC simulations. The average completion time of the nineteen training modules is thirty-two weeks of part-time study.
Each of the following 19 modules includes learning objectives, practical applications, technical tips, interactive labs, review questions and online final exams:
- Introduction to Advanced PLCs
- PLC Processors
- I/O System
- Programming Terminals and Peripherals
- Installation and Maintenance of PLCs
- Tag-Based PLCs

Our online student support website provides a wide range of resources, including access to your “Account”, online forums, testing, videos, animations, images and additional supplementary learning materials.
Online Exams
Being tested is always a stressful and challenging part of your student experience. To help you prepare for testing, our program material includes detailed practice exams covering the material in each module. If you complete these practice exams and work with our program tutors to resolve any problem areas, you will be well prepared to excel on the online exams taken at the end of each module.
Student Support Center
The Student Support Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm (EST) and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Calling into the Support Center is free using our 1-800 toll-free number. Technical, tutorial and administrative support is available to you by phone or email during these hours. Our Program Advisors and Tutorial Support Staff can assist you with any questions you might have, from installing the program disk, to solving content-based tutorial questions, to helping you register for more modules.
Register now and get started in the program for $440
Our pay-as-you-learn option allows you to enroll in the program for $440, which pays
for the Interactive Learning Package including lab simulation software and the program
material. Also included in this fee are the tuition, final exam, and ancillary fees
for Module 1 as well as the technical and tutorial support for the module material.
After you complete the first module, you simply pay for additional modules as you
work through them. The remaining 18 modules can be purchased individually at $70 per
module or in groups. You can take up to 2 years to complete the program.
Register in the complete program for $1,700
Register into a complete program and you will have full access to all modules and learning resources in the program. Full registration includes all tuition fees and learning material fees for the program and represents the entire program cost. It also includes the laboratory simulation software program and access to all of the learning resources for the 19 modules as well web-based supplemental resources, free tutorial and technical support and online testing.
NOTE: Students who have already completed PLC Technician I Certificate program, need to take only 12 additional modules (7 of the modules overlap with PLC Technician I Certificate program) to complete the PLC Technician II Certificate program. You will be paying $1275 (instead $1700, saving of $425) for the full program to earn the second credential, PLC Technician II Certificate program.
